Houston Massage Therapist - Houston Masseuse

How to enhance your massage experience!

Getting a massage at a great medical spa is about more than just showing up and waiting for it to be over. While a good masseuse is essential to an effective and beneficial massage, there are several things that you can do in order to get the most out of your massage session.

First of all, try your best to plan ahead so that you on time, or slightly early. This not only ensures that your appointment begins promptly, but also gives you more time to relax before the massage starts. If you are rushing around trying to make your appointment, you will have a difficult time calming down for your massage session. Arriving early also has another benefit – you can choose to spend some time in a hot tub or sauna before your massage. Warming up your body and muscles will help loosen them up and allow your therapist to achieve the best results. If you use a hot tub with chlorinated water, be sure to take a shower to wash off the chlorine before you go in to your massage.

Although most massage takes place nude, remember that your therapist is a professional who will make sure your modesty is respected at all times. If being in the nude still gives you jitters, wear clothing that is comfortable to you but still allows the masseuse to feel and move the parts of your body that need work.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do during a massage is relax. Tensing or tightening your muscles, consciously or unconsciously, is counterproductive to the goals of a massage and will make things more difficult for you and your therapist. Remember that your therapist is there to tend to your needs, but they cannot respond to needs they don’t know about. Make sure to talk to your therapist before and during your session and express any concerns you might have about any aspect of the massage. Feedback is important to help your therapist fine-tune your experience. Again, try to relax – take long, deep breaths and focus on the movements of the masseuse’s hands. If you feel more comfortable while conversing, feel free to do so; most masseuses will follow your lead in this area.

After your massage, allow yourself some quiet time to absorb the effects of the massage. Also be sure to drink a lot of water to flush your body of any toxins released. Finally, keep in mind that the benefits of massage are cumulative – that is, the more often you get massages, the more benefit you will see.
