Tips for Preventing Warts

Warts are caused by contact with the Human pappillomavirus (HPV). While most people will demonstrate no response to infections from this virus, some will develop warts, which are non-cancerous skin growths. Warts come in a variety of types, including common warts, plantar warts (which occur on the soles of the feet and grow inward), subungual warts (which occur under fingernails), and flat warts (which typically occur on the face).

If you have warts which require removal, contact the Houston medical spa Dermagenix at 713-662-3376. Our staff of experienced skin-care experts can assist you with all of your needs cleanly and painlessly.

How to Prevent Warts

Warts are unpleasant and unsightly. Fortunately, following these simple steps can help you reduce your risk of getting one:

  • Do not touch warts, on yourself or on others
  • Avoid using towels, razors, socks, and shoes that have been used by others
  • Do not walk barefoot in warm, moist areas (i.e., public showers, pools, etc.)
  • Keep your feet as dry as possible
  • If a wart does appear on your skin, cover it with a bandage to keep it from spreading

By following these easy steps, you may be able to reduce the chance that warts will appear or spread on your skin.
