Tips for Reducing Pore Size

The desire for flawless, soft, and healthy-looking skin is a fairly universal one. Unfortunately, with the exception of some genetically-blessed individuals, most people have to work for it. The main enemy in this fight is enlarged pores, which, in addition to being unsightly as-is, can also accumulate dirt and bacteria, leading to inflammation and acne breakouts.

The following simple tips can help you achieve this look in your everyday life with minimal effort:

  • Heat a damp washcloth in the microwave for 20 seconds or so and gently place in over your face. The steam will help draw out impurities and soothe the skin at the same time as it helps you relax.
  • A drying mud mask is a great way to shrink pore size. After washing your face with a scrub that does not contain any acne medication, apply the mask, relax motionless until it has dried, and finally wash it away.
  • Try a pore-clearing strip before the mud mask for particularly stubborn areas. Throw in the damp washcloth afterward if the area feels irritated.
  • Using a pore-reducing serum and facial moisturizer on a regular basis can help pores from becoming too big to begin with. Also helpful in this vein are facial scrubs to remove dead and dry skin, which can be used daily in the shower.

Finally, if time is of the essence, a quick fix is to mist your face with a spray-bottle of cold water. This will shrink the pores for a varying amount of time, from only a few minutes to possibly several hours depending on the surrounding temperatures.
